Rev. Dylan Valliere
God's love for his people is manifest through his foreknowing, predestining, calling, justifying, and glorifying-all in and through Jesus Christ.
The Christian's assurance that God works all things together for our ultimate good depends on God's absolute sovereignty in salvation.
How can we even begin to respond to these lofty, glorious truths in a way that befits them?
God is really, truly, unbelievably FOR US. He's on our side. He's committed to our good.
So when he asks, "Who can be against us?", contextually, he's asking, "Who can [successfully] be against us?"
God the Father sent the eternal, uncreated Son to save people.
God, in his sovereignty and kindness toward us, ordained the suffering and death of Jesus for our rescue.
All of the things that we need in this life and for all eternity are small compared to the giving of God's Son on our behalf.
We can be utterly certain that there is no good thing—nothing needful for our eternal good—that God will hold back from us.
