A heart that does not love God will choose anything and everything except the right thing.

Sin has consequences.

Learn from the negative example of others.

Accept guilt and correction; don’t double down in your wrongness.

Love God completely, love people practically.

You cannot buy your way out of the consequences of your sin.

The way out of the consequences of your sin is repentant faith in Jesus Christ.

He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing. (Prov. 29:1)

Three-part sin of Ahaz:

1. Personally doing wrong
2. Leading others to do wrong
3. Preventing others from doing right

None of the sacrifices we can make will earn God’s favor.  Only God’s sacrifice, received with repentant faith, is sufficient.
